Will you be continuing on your HBM journey in June? That’s right, next Monday is June 1st
and we are starting with our June Challenge.
Details will arrive to your email when you sign up. There’s a new CHALLENGE for our membership
drive. For every new person you bring
into our group, your name will be placed in a drawing for an amazing beach bag
bundle. So, if you bring in 2 new
people, your name will go in twice.
Remember, they don’t have to be local!
So, grab your coworkers, friends, family and let them experience the
wonderful accomplishments that you are benefitting from!! Pay on our blog to pay or leave money in my
mailbox at school.

Take this poll to see if we want to change up our score card in June.
Our June Challenge is quickly approaching! Would you like to see some new challenges? I was thinking about taking out "Make a good habit" and "Break a bad habit" and replacing them with two new challenges. You can also choose to keep these if you want. Click the picture below and it will link to a poll. Take the poll twice to get two new goals.

HBM Bracelet of Accomplishment
Attention - New motivation! Introducing the "HBM Bracelet of Accomplishment". We have all been working so hard on our challenge and it's important to be recognized for our accomplishments. Here is a visual reminder of how far we've come and how much we've accomplished. Order your bracelet on the HBM blog website where it says "Click here to make a payment" (where you paid for our challenge) for only $10. Click on the dropdown menu and choose "HBM Bracelet of Accomplishment". You will receive a bracelet with a charm that says "Balance". Then, throughout the challenge each month, you can earn some beautiful beads to put on your bracelet. There are beads for colorful food challenges, weight loss, winning the monthly HBM challenge, exercise and running a race, etc. You'll receive beads for these accomplishments regardless if you have a bracelet or not. It's just nice to have a visual reminder of everything you have accomplished. The silver bead just screws off and you can place your bead on the bracelet.

Time to comment
Hello out there!! Can you hear the echo? This is a friendly reminder that you receive a point for each day that you post, share, and talk the Healthy Balanced Mom stuff up. This is our place to support, praise, and share with each other. It's also our place to receive help and support. So, share your recipes, ideas, work outs, struggles, successes, everything in the comments below each post!!! If I'm not seeing you on here posting or hearing you at work sharing with each other, I shouldn't see you getting the points for this category (hint hint).

Water Bottle Challenge
So we have three days down and the biggest obstacle for most people seems to be the 3 Liter water requirement! It makes sense since most of us are teachers and nurses and it's hard to actually GET to the bathroom! But, I'm seeing that some of you are creating some good strategies to get that water down!
First Challenge this month (an oldie but a goody). Come up with a fun strategy to get the water down. What motivational technique can we use to chug a lug? Double click on the board below, type your name, and include a picture, description, anecdote, song, whatever to inspire yourself and others!
If you haven't already done so, sign up for email updates on this blog. Make sure to check your email for an additional step for "Feedburner". You must follow this blog to be eligible for a prize for this challenge. Good luck!
All submissions are due by Saturday morning at 9:00am!

Change in the Rules
Okay, in the name of BALANCE (ya bunch a lushes)...
There is a change in the way that alcohol, and any drinks, is managed.
I know that alcohol is a large part of having fun, staying sane, and being somewhat balanced, so I am altering the way that we count it in our May Challenge. Of course, I'm not going to make this easy! We are all in this challenge because we need change. Most of us, well, all of us, are looking forward to losing some weight and feeling good in a bathing suit this summer. So, we need to make sure that we burn off the calories that we gain from our drinks.
This goes for all drinking - alcoholic drinks and soda.
You must burn off the drink calories that you bring in. So, find out how many calories your drink has. Then, go exercise to burn off that amount of calories. Example, my glass of wine has 250 calories and my 30 minute run burned 350 calories, so I can afford that glass of wine plus some. Obviously it's better to do the math (and exercise) before you drink. Get it?
No double dipping! If you are exercising for 20 minutes for one point, don't count that 20 minutes toward your calorie burnage. Go do more!
This Challenge is about balance, getting healthy, and losing weight. Alcohol and soda are loaded with empty calories that our body doesn't need (our mind does). See how you do! If you are losing the weight with each weigh in and are satisfied with your plan, then stick to it. If you aren't, then re-think that glass!
Of course you don't have to do any of this on your cheat day or the one free drink that you get on your cheat meal.
I think this is a fair way to keep our lifestyles intack. With the warmer weather and the celebrations that occur, we need to feel in control of our lives and actually live life to the fullest!
